welcome
Whether you are married or single, have kids or not, WUMCHA has something for you.
WUMCHA ( wümchä )
WUMCHA, the Washington University Medical Center Housestaff Auxiliary, was formed in 1982 to address the unique needs of women affiliated with the Medical Center. These women, the majority of whom have relocated to St. Louis, have special life stresses that WUMCHA strives to address. Our members are a diverse, dynamic group of women. We come from six countries and 27 states, live in 13 different
municipalities surrounding St. Louis, and represent over 25 medical
specialties. All 2009-10 WUMCHA members were college graduates; 54% had a graduate degree, with 33% at the doctoral level. Over
two-thirds of the women have children, and 26% are stay-at-home moms.
We extend a warm welcome to all those moving to the St. Louis area for reasons related to the medical center. Please click here to access our Welcome Guide with information about places to live, things to do, and all the essentials of setting up life in St. Louis (e.g. car registration, voter
registration, utilities, etc.).
